Demonstrates chemiluminescence from a redox reaction between permanganate and borohydride in acidic solution. Two solutions are prepared: a permanganate solution acidified to roughly pH 2, and a borohydride solution that is prepared just before use because it decomposes to hydrogen gas. When mixed, permanganate oxidizes borohydride, producing an orange glow that is visible briefly before the solution becomes colorless. The demonstration notes that concentrations are sensitive and should not be increased.
